Ridge Spring Man
Dies In Accident

A Ridge Spring man died in a single vehicle accident Mon., Dec. 13.
  The Saluda County Coroner’s Office  identified the driver as Vincent L. Milhouse, age 46 from Ridge Spring.
  According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the S.C. Highway Patrol the accident occurred shortly after 8:15 AM  on Hwy 39 (Ridge Spring Hwy.) near Murphy Farm Road, about 1.1 miles from Ridge Spring.
  The 2002 Ford Econoline van was travellng South on Hwy. 39 and went off the left side of the road, hitting a ditch, tree and overturned, ejecting the victim, who was not seatbelted.
  The driver of the vehicle was transported by Saluda County EMS and then a short time later air lifted to Augusta University Medical Center by Air Care.  Unfortunately the driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
  The collision is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol and Saluda County Coroner’s Office.  
  The coroner’s office would like to thank all of the first responders of Saluda County and SC Hwy Patrol for their assistance.
  The coroner’s office also extends its heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Milhouse.

Drug Arrest at SCE&G Ramp 4

  Leila A. Pelc, of Harrisburg PA, was arrested on Friday night, Dec. 10, at a public boat ramp near Lake Murray.  
  She is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, Possession of LSD, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of MDMA, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.    
  Pelc is currently incarcerated at the Saluda County Detention Center.

SCHSL Announces Realignment

  The South Carolina High School League has announced its proposed region realignment for 2021-2023, and Saluda and Ridge Spring-Monetta are affected by the changes.
  Both schools will play sports in two different regions.
  For all sports, except football, Saluda will be in Region 2 2A with Abbeville, Mid-Carolina, Newberry and Ninety Six.
  For football, Saluda will play in Region 3, with Batesburg-Leesville, Fox Creek, Pelion, Silver Bluff and Strom Thurmond.
  Abbeville and Ninety Six will play football in Region 1, and Newberry and Mid-Carolina will play in Region 4.
  Strom Thurmond, Fox Creek and Mid-Carolina all moved down from 3-A.
  For all sports, except football, Ridge Spring-Monetta will be in Region 2 1A, with Calhoun Falls, McCormick, Ware Shoals and Whitmire.
  For football, RSM will play in Region 4, with Wagener-Salley, Blackville-Hilda, Calhoun County, Denmark-Olar, H-K-T, North and Williston-Elko.
