Near Record June Rainfall

  After three straight months of below average rainfall, the Town of Saluda  received near record rainfall in June.
  The 11.48 inches that fell during the month is the third highest monthly rainfall since 1988. The highest was the 14.12 inches they fell during the flood month of Oct. 2015. The second highest was 12.39 in Sept. 2016.
  The June rainfall  brings the year’s total to 30.71. This compares to 31.47 inches during the same time last year.
  June had varied high temperature marks, covering the 70s to the 90s.  The temperatures ranged from a high of 78 on June 1  to  92  on four different days. The lowest morning temperature, 51, was recorded on June 1.

Car Theft, Drug Charges

  The Saluda County Sheriff’s Office has recovered a stolen vehicle after the vehicle owner’s mother noticed the vehicle being driven through the Town of Saluda.
  The Sheriff’s Office was called and responded. The vehicle was stopped by deputies in the parking lot of the Saluda County Nursing Center.
  Robert Stancel and Justin Witt were taken into custody and are charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and possession of marijuana.


Drug Charges Filed

  The Saluda County Sheriff’s Office’s Narcotics Unit has arrested Kevon D. Etheredge for Distribution of Fentanyl and Distribution of Fentanyl in Proximately of a School.
  At the time of his arrest, Mr. Etheredge had an outstanding warrant from the Saluda Police Department for Pointing and Presenting a Firearm.
