SHS-Newberry Game Postponed


  The Saluda-Newberry game was postponed Fri., Oct. 2, when Covid issues developed at Newberry.
  The game will be made up on Oct. 30. It was also be Senior Night.
  The SHS varsity football team will host Gray Collegiate Academy on Friday, October 9th at 7:30. We will use the same protocol for purchasing tickets as last week. Admission is $7.00 and a ticket is required for kindergarten and older. Pay in cash only. The SCHSL pass is the only pass allowed for free admission.
  •• The tickets will be open to the general public on Wednesday and Thursday at the SHS office, Crouch Hardware and The Added Touch.
  •• Tickets will not be sold during the day at any of the locations. Tickets will be sold at the gates on Friday night only if the count is below the capacity. This information will be updated on the website on Friday.


691 County COVID
Cases, 19 Deaths


  Saluda County’s COVID-19  cases have risen to 691, with 19  deaths.
  The county is classified as low incidence with a rate of 73.3 per 100,000.  Last week, the figure was 83 cases per 100,000 with a moderatel;y high incidence rating.
  At one time, Saluda County had one of thes highest covid totals in the area. Today, the county has the lowest total among counties bordering.
  Counties neighboring Saluda had the following case totals: Aiken - 3873;  Edgefield - 791;  Greenwood -2156; Lexington - 7019; Newberry -1210.
   Sun., Oct. 4, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) announced 619 new confirmed cases and 20 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, 12 additional confirmed deaths and no new probable deaths.
  This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 146,576, probable cases to 5,006, confirmed deaths to 3,255, and 198 probable deaths.
  Who Should Get Tested?
  If you are out and about in the community, around others, or not able to socially distance or wear a mask, we recommend that you get tested at least once a month.
  Routine testing allows public health workers to diagnose those who are asymptomatic and interrupt the ongoing spread of the virus. Learn more about who should get tested here.
  More than 530 Testing Opportunities Available Statewide
  Testing for COVID-19 is essential because it helps identify people who are infected with the virus, whether or not they have symptoms.
  DHEC is working with community partners to set up mobile testing clinics and make testing available in communities across the state. Currently, there are 302 mobile testing events scheduled through October 29 and there are 233 permanent COVID-19 testing facilities across the state.   Testing in South Carolina
  As of Octr. 3, a total of 1,500,334 tests have been conducted in the state. See a detailed breakdown of tests in South Carolina on the Data and Projections webpage. DHEC’s Public Health Laboratory is operating extended hours and is testing specimens seven days a week, and the Public Health Laboratory’s current timeframe for providing results to health care providers is 24-48 hours.
  Percent Positive
  The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 5,228 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 11.8%.

Sheriff’s Office Food Drive


  The Saluda County Sheriff’s Office is accepting canned goods and non -perishable food items for Christ Central Ministries in Saluda, S.C.
  This food drive will run from Sept. 25th -Nov. lst, 2020. Please drop off these food items in the lobby of the Saluda County Sheriffs Office located at 100 Law Enforcement Dr., Saluda.We will also have a drop off box at the starting line for our Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31st from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.
