Purple Wins SHS Spring Game

Cade Gentry’s 95-yard interception return proved to be the difference as the Purple defeated the White 17-14 in Saluda High’s annual spring football game.
Originally scheduled for Friday afternoon, Coach Stewart Young made the wise decision to move the game to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with Friday’s predicted triple digit temperatures.
Rising senior Noah Bell quarterbacked for both teams.
The Purple led 7-0 at halftime on a 57-yard pass from Bell to Keenan Brooks. Adrian Vasquez kicked the PAT.
In the second half, the White tied the score on a 12-yard run by Montrevious Baker. Diego Licea kicked the extra point.
The Purple took regained the lead on a 32-yard Vasquez field goal.
The White had the ball at the Purple five, ready to regain the lead, when Gentry stepped in front of Bell’s pass and ran it back 95-yards to make the score 17-7 Purple.
The White made it closer when Bell hit Dallan Wright over the middle and he turned it into a 70-yard score. Licea kicked the point after.
