Monetta Native to Receive Forty Under 40 Award

  CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Regional Business Journal has selected Martina Jackson, an employee of Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic in Charleston, South Carolina, as a recipient of the 2019 Forty Under 40 award.   Nominated by members of the local community, this elite group is composed of individuals under the age of 40 who excel in the professional arena and community involvement.
  Jackson, a native of Monetta, South Carolina, began her career at NIWC Atlantic as a part of the student co-op program in the summer of 2000 and graduated from Clemson University in 2004. Today, she is the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) team lead for NIWC Atlantic supporting the FMS, Air Integration and United States Coast Guard division in the Fleet C4I and Readiness department.

SALUDA FFA IN STATE FINALS - Quinten Miller has advanced to compete in the State FFA LDE (Leadership Development Event) at Clemson University in June.  Quinten was the first place winner in the Region 2 Upper Creed Speaking competition held at Laurens District 55 High School on March 19.  Quinten recited the FFA Creed, by E.M. Tiffany from memory and answered questions aloud related to it.Sam Barstow competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking competition with a topic on “how technology is solving the problem of skilled labor scarcity.” Pictured, left to right - Quinten Miller & Sam Barstow.

SHS FFA MEMBER COMPETES IN MISS FFA PAGEANT - On March 15th, Kelly Wertz was among fifty six girls competing in the annual Miss FFA Pageant held at the Batesburg Leesville Fine Arts Center.  The afternoon began for the girls with individual interviews.  During the pageant, the girls competed in official dress and evening wear divisions.  They also introduced themselves on stage and explained their SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience).  A $500 scholarship sponsored by Ag South Farm Credit was presented to the winner.  Libby H. Templeton is advisor of the Batesburg Leesville FFA Chapter which sponsored the event.
