GIRLS STATE - This year’s January American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary meeting kicked off with representatives that attended the South Carolina Palmetto Girls State encampment.  Palmetto Girls State, held at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC,  is a one-week leadership and citizenship training program, created to educate outstanding high school students about state and local government and citizenship. Girls attending Palmetto Girls State experience governmental procedure by simulating political campaigns, elections, and the political process. They also learn about the principles of citizenship and public service from guest speakers, expert panels and staff members. The South Carolina Department of the American Legion Auxiliary has organized and administered Palmetto Girls State since 1947.  Pictured left to right: Post 65 Auxiliary Palmetto Girls State Chairperson Linda Padgett, Girls Staters Gracie Lake, daughter of Mike and Marcy Lake; Erin Rowe, daughter of Dallas Rowe and Katlynn Livingston, daughter of Katie and  Adam Livingston; and American Legion Post 65 Commander Al Butler.

Come out to meet us on February 3rd.  We are hosting a fundraiser from 12-3:00-”Looking for Love.”  This will be held at various locations across the town of Saluda.  100% of the proceeds go to the dogs.
There will be scavenger hunts for children and adults-bake sale-games with prizes-50/50 raffle AND a kissing booth to kiss an adorable puppy.
